Plug valves are supplied with appropriately sized actuators of pneumatic, manual, electric or hydraulic types. Pneumatic actuators can be diaphragm or piston type depending on valve force/size. Accessories such as air packs, positioners, solenoid valves, position feedback devices and limit switches are included, depending on specification requirements.

Plug Valves: Uses and Functions
A plug valve is a flow control device designed to regulate the flow of liquids or gases within a high pressure system. In addition to controlling flow through basic moderate throttling, plug valves can also be used to open/close positions or to divert or combine flow rates.
A plug valve is a mechanically simple valve that uses a cylindrical or conical 'plug' that rotates inside the valve body to control the flow through the valve. The plug inside the valve contains one or more hollow passages through the plug from the side, which allows fluid or gas to flow through the plug when the valve is open. This simple mechanism and ease of operation means that plug valves are often economical.
Applications
Plug valves are effective tight closing and opening valves suitable for use in systems as well as for corrosive and hazardous liquids and gases. They are commonly used in the following applications.
